The Immunization Situation
This mini book was created in my “Art for Children” course in school where the focus was on children as an audience.
My goal was to educate young children on how vaccines work as we navigate the misinformation that comes with Covid 19. I enjoyed doing the research and creating characters that were based in science. It was really fun imagining a metaphor for each part of the process and how I could charactierize each aspect.
I also tried to incorporate a more abstract style to this piece than is common in alot of children’s books, with flat abstract shapes resembling blood cells in the background. I drew alot of inspiration from one of my favorite children’s books illustrators, Lane Smith.
